What do you think of this new article about drive in working line dogs?

For those who aren't familiar with her, Suzanne is a German shepherd breeder, as well as an amazingly intuitive trainer. She wrote the book Bones Would Rain from the Sky: Deepening our Relationships with Dogs.

its certainly a different way to look at it. She makes a great deal of sense about looking at the whole package instead of just a part.

Great article. That control and responsiveness can be bred for and the drive to work still be impressive. Plenty of unbalanced breeding going on, I imagine.

I thought it was great too, but then I'm a huge fan of hers. I'd love to hear more opinions, especially from working line people - bumping this up!

There is some unbalanced breeding going on, but more often than not I see totally unbalanced training. Making dogs as crazy as they can get just to get a bite at a rag, then after 2 years of nothing but making dogs frantic they try to add control, and other such stuff.
