Default I'm Stumped

This behavior is unusual. My two and a half year old female Bridget loves to ride in the car with me. She does fine until we get back to the house. As we turn the corner on to our street she will start barking and whining and basically goes "nuts". When I go to get out she will run me over if I dont tell her to sit and stay (which she does). It would be amusing were it not for the fact that her barking in the car will just about make your ears bleed. Has anyone ever encountered or heard of anything like this?

Just be thankful that she doesn't bark at other cars, dogs, and people. LOL!

Maybe put her in a down and get her to stay while riding?

My dogs never do that when we get near home... but they sure do it when they know we are near their favorite hiking/chuckit fields!

I should tell you I have only had Bridget for a couple of weeks. She belonged to my mother in law who got her as a pup. This behavior started just about immediatley so I dont know if she learned this was her home that quickly.

My girl absolutely goes insane as we pull up to my agility training facility. It's a bit embarrassing as everyone is getting ready to go inside and they all turn and stare at me. Nobody has said anything to me yet, but I have an answer prepared and waiting- "Don't you wish your dog was as excited for agility...?"

But truthfully, Pimg will do that as we arrive to pretty much any destination.

Scarlett does that when we pull into any place familiar to her...home, the vet, park, obedience class. I think it's their way of saying..."HEY I KNOW WHERE WE ARE AND I WANT TO GET OUT OF THE CAR!!" as loud they can!

Stryder does that when we go to my in-laws, they live on a two mile gravel road, uphill a couple times, and then around a curve. Sooo, as soon as we hit the gravel..he is letting loose...for two miles. Whining, yawn whining (dunno what to describe it)....it gets super annoying.

Same here! I use to get so embarrassed walking up the stairs into the building with two screaming dogs until one day an instructor told me that when they hear noise coming up the stairs it's almost always a GSD. Good to know we aren't the only ones.
