This the price charged for Basic Obedience by one professional. It is one on one and classes last 'as long as it takes'... and the course lasts as long as it takes. The price is for the life of the dog and unlimited phone calls and classes.
Let's hear your opinions. I will not state the name or location of the professional.

Unless what " as long as it takes" and " basic obedience" means is described in great detail in a contract, I think one of the parties involved will end up unhappy!

Some testimonials: "I have been an obedience, conformation, and agility judge, also a schutzhund judge for the past 40 years. I have never met a man more knowledgeable or a man more dedicated to the dog world. HE is always ready to donate his time to help those in need" "I had him in the late 70's. I owned a sheppard that was huge and strong as ****. When he got through training us that dog was so much easier to walk. He definitely knows the deal " " He is called to bring his dogs on search & rescue and search & recovery jobs. His reputation is national; he went with his dogs to search through the collapsed Cypress Freeway in Oakland after the San Francisco earthquake." "Nine years ago we got a dog from a shelter who had trouble adjusting to the kids. We paid for his 6-session program. In two sessions, the dog was behaving consistently well both in 'class' and at home. We went for three more sessions and never even called for the 6th, because the job was long done. He trains the owner as much or more than he trains the dog. We are in control and the dog knows his place." Last edited by PaddyD; 02-07-2011 at 01:43 PM. |

I would rather pay an annual fee, but I wouldn't be opposed to a lifetime fee if it was a trainer I was already well familiar with.
The place I train at offers an "advanced" course which is really more of an obedience club than a small training class. You pay an annual fee to stay enrolled in weekly classes. You can only join this after you've been through and graduated novice. |

I don't like the as long as it takes part... Skylar's basic obedience was 130, for 6 weeks. that was as long as it took for her to learn everything, her 2nd level obedience and 1st agility class was the same (130 for 6 weeks)
What if someone didn't work with their dog at home? The owner would be in a bad situation. |
