I've found a good trainer will just have you go through your whole reptouire at the initial assessment and then say "Heres what's good, here's what needs work" and clearly has a very clear idea of the dogs temperament, how it needs to be trained, how you need to be trained, etc, within the first few seconds or minutes of observation. It's truly impressive to see a gifted professional at work. In that way, it's easy to see a trainers skill within a few seconds, and I've got no prob paying more for that
