Default Constant barking and hackles up at the tv when an animal appears

Hello! My female German shepherd, Meika is now 14 months old. She never used to care about the tv but recently she has started and now whenever an animal pops up she starts barking and jumping up at the tv and her hackles are up. How do I control that or get her to not react? She's best friends with our other dog and he's just a 6lb chihuahua and we do socialize her by bringing her to daycare and occasionally to the dog park so I know it's not aggression? We also have a 6 year old who she's really attached to Constant barking and hackles up at the tv when an animal appears-imageuploadedbypg-free1394658832.075517.jpg Constant barking and hackles up at the tv when an animal appears-imageuploadedbypg-free1394658677.128524.jpg

How does she do with dogs and other animals when your outdoors? Will she follow commands when she does this? Maybe try putting a leash on her if the programming your watching gets her barking so you'll have more control. Hopefully someone will post with better ideas.

The leash sounds like a good idea, maybe try adding leave it, enough commands. Our dogs used to bark or go to the door when a doorbell rang on tv, but just perked ears if it was an dog barking/howling on tv. We'd say "it's the tv" and after a while they learned the difference between the real thing and tv! Like said I imagine others will have ideas! Commands such as you might use outside around other animals or when you have visitors.

Yah I've been reading a lot about the poker collar on here.. When she's outside she's good around other dogs, as soon as we leave her different story as she sometimes gets separation anxiety. I've tried a water bottle to spray but she likes the water too much lol and I'm not a fan of the shock collars. A huge problem I think is she probably learned this behaviour from her much older, chihuahua fur brighter who has taught her a log and helped her out in her first few months in our home. Trouble is the chihuahua is impossible to teach new things lol.
