I have been training my puppy now since I got her at 10 weeks. I was just curious what treats do you all use for training purposes. There are specially bagged ones specifically for training though there are only like 100 in the bags and they are like 6 dollars. Is there a better option, I feel like I am spending a ton of money on treats. I train with play and her favorite toy as well though I was just curious what others who have a lot of training experience use. Thanks
Our 13 week pup is not picky at all. We have no reason to go to cheese or hot dog pieces for training treats. I usually have some bits of puppy size doggy bone in my pocket while out. When I call her I give her a piece about half the time.
We have some dried sweet potato from the Foster & Smith mail order catalog. I use those in bits too. These are top tier treats for her, just about inhales them.
I've used hot dogs. Wellness bites...I cut them into tiny pieces to get more bang for the buck). But store brand cheddar cheese cut in tiny cubes seems to be a favorite. A pound of cheddar cubed into tiny 1/4 in cubes makes a lot of treats.
All great ides thank you everyone! I Just enrolled her at the local club today for her first bit of classes, though I have got her to be able to do all of the basics myself, a bit of professional help with long stays and better attention is something I need to get down before I continue granted she is only 15 weeks her attention span doesn't last long. I appreciate the input everyone!
I went and bought a big bag of all natural chicken breasts they are 7 dollars for the bag and has 10 breasts, each breast makes about 60 to 100 treats depending on size and she goes nuts, so I think I found my treat cost effective and she loves em!
