Training Collars

Anyone have any suggestions for training collars? Oskar starts training on the 24th and the collar we have for him isn't snug enough to be safe. (We don't jerk him with it just take him outside with a leash in case he tried to run away.)

I found Martingale's are good for puppies and dogs that tend to slip their collar, a correct fitting martingale won't be able to slip off and provides gentle correction compared to check chain.

if your GSD is eating and eating and eating and losing weight - please consider testing for EPI.

I use the prong and Herm Sprenger Prong collar. Both work great!

How old is Oskar. I wouldn't use a prong if he is under 8 months.

What kind of training?

How old is the dog?

I wouldn't use a prong collar period... unless you know what you're doing...most people don't! If "I" can't get the results I want with a flat collar and lead, then the problem is with what "I'm" doing and not the dog! Eight months and thinking of using a prong already????

Opinions on using a prong collar?

Oskar will be 12 weeks the day he starts training. And it is just a basic puppy obedience class.

It doesn't specify. When I observed the class last week everyone had different collars. Some had harness' some just plain flat etc.
