Default How early to use a martingale

My sweet girl is about 9 weeks old and she really loves to go for walks. I want to let her do it, but she is getting into the habit of pulling. I've been working on making her sit beside me when we stop, which she does pretty well at for her age. I was wondering if I should use a martingale to break the habit early, or if it is okay to let her do as she pleases being she is so young.

I'm not an expert but I'd never use any kind of correction collar on a dog this age. She's a baby, and walks are supposed to be lots of fun! At 9 weeks you can't have had her hardly any time at all?
I've heard 4-5 months is ok to start? Maybe someone else has info on the timing, but I think 9 weeks is too young.

I've had her for about 7 weeks. Thank you, that's what I have been thinking. I have never used correctional collars in training any other of my dogs, so I'm new to it.

I only have nylon martingales. It's all I ever use, puppy and adult dogs alike. I don't use them to "correct" a dog. I have them because I've come across too many dogs that like to back out of a collar. Plus I've had sighthounds for 14 years, and thats all we ever use on them.

Just get a nylon martingale, and make sure you fit it properly.

I think she is too young for a martingale still.

I would work on teaching her leash sensitivity. Kikopup has a video about it on YouTube (along with a ton of others you may get stuck looking at lol) and I'd get her an easy walk harness in the meantime. It makes walking so easy! Doesn't allow the dog to pull and puts no pressure on the neck.
