Puppy biting

This may have been brought up before. I am new here. We have a 15 week old male who loves to play bite. Any suggestions on how to get him to stop would be great! He mainly does it when we are playing. We supply him with many chew toys and play toys. Once a week we take him to a puppy romp to socialize with other puppies. Maybe he's also teething? Thanks! Have you had a chance to run thru ---> Welcome to the GSD/FAQ's for the first time owner - German Shepherd Dog Forums

you'll find one of the common problems in our breeds as a puppy is in there as a sticky ---> http://www.germanshepherds.com/forum...tips-help.html

You need to teach him the "Off" command. This is simple... Put a dozen or so training treats in your closed upside down fist and put it in the pups face. When he begins to sniff, lick and even bite your hand to get the treats out, say "Off" and once he stops sniffing, licking or biting, drop one treat out of your palm, then repeat.

Thanks guys! I did train him "off" and it works GREAT when I have a treat. No treat, not so much. Maybe just needs a little more work. He's super smart.

Yeah, the pup won't stop completely right away. It will take time.

Thanks for the tips! :)

Redirection works really well, if he's getting too bitey or bitey at all replace what he's biting with a toy and praise.

Thank you! I have to say he's getting much better! He still bites for play, but he's almost 4 months old and definitely listens way better. I give him a simple "ah-ah" and he stops
