Need help with a possible fear aggression in home.(6 m old pup)

Max is 6 months old. Right now we have a issue with him barking at people that enter our home when he has not them before! I do believe it's more fear based and not protecting his home/me.

For example I had a old school friend come visit today! She entered the home and max was relaxing on the back deck so didn't hear her come in. I invited him
Inside and he started barking at her (hackles were raised). I told him no and to sit which he did but continued barking and actually walked up to her, sniffing her but then continued barking I ended up giving her a treat to give which worked, and after about 3-4 minutes all was good. He's know sleeping below her feet and all is good!!

Sorry if it's not very clear- I always had trouble getting my thoughts into paper to make sense and flow.

Could anyone give me any training tips to help to handle this in the future, or to stop in happening in the future. Wouldn't be opposed to professional training, if needed to be.
Thanks :!

Side note: He's always had a bit of anxiety when meeting new people while out and about but the more we have been socializing him (with limits and not over doing it and overwhelming him) he's gotten a lot better.

What are you doing to counter condition to strangers on walks?

I would do the same thing in your yard, then on the front porch, then at the front door, then inside.

We take some treats and anytime we pass a stranger,we get him to concentrate on us and he gets a treat. We are trying to make a positive experience for him.
Is there anything else we could be doing?
I must add which I forgot before- when we are out and about he does not bark at everybody all the time, some people is quite happy to go up too and other people he is not so fond of.

In the home situation once he's met someone once or twice he's very friendly and relaxed!

Thanks :)

Sounds good to me. Just do this process in the yard and then move incrementally closer to the house, then move it to the door and eventually inside.

I think you'll see amazing results if you keep a jar full of 'real' dog treats right by the door. And when you allow someone in, you hand over some of these treats (NOT dry milk bones ! but wet yummy stuff like cheese or moist yummy things) to the friend and have they initially just hold it in their open palm (so they come in low under the dogs face, less threatening, like feeding a horse) and the dog comes in.

Once the dog gets that 100% of the people coming in the house have CHEESE/CHICKEN/BEEF just for him, the fear should be ebbing and then you can start having them ask him to 'sit' or 'down' and give the treat for a specific good behavior and not just the NON fear behaviors.
