Puppy training

Hello, we recently just got a 5 month old GDS and this is our first one! I have grow up with GDS all my life. But my parents have never had luck with having their dogs walk with them on a leash "heel" and I want our dog to "heel" and not pull us. What is the steps that everyone has tried and succeeded! She is very energetic and loves tennis balls. She doesn't really care for treats that much. She know sit, paw, and speak really well. But now I want to teach her heel before she get to old and it's harder for her to learn. Thanks!

Most important things to work on with our young puppies are ---> Top Training Expectations for Puppies

Plus ---> GSD Puppy Primer Tips

What we want when walking our dogs is for them to not pull us. I've found the best way for young pups is just to use the Gentle Leader Harness.

To teach and actually use a 'heel' position is WAY too much on an entire walk. This is a very precise and regimental type position that is too controlling on a walk that should allow our dogs to poo/pee and smell the roses
