Puppy afraid of Leash
So Titan is our first puppy that we've both had of our own.... I've been around dogs, especially GSDs, my whole life but they were always my mothers and she handled training and such. Well this morning I attempted to put a leash on Titan for the first time and he was very very SCARED. He cried and hid and was just not having anything to do with it. He is only about 10 weeks old and it may be my fault that i haven't tried to introduce a leash to him sooner... anyways...has this happened to anyone? any suggestions that might help me get him used to a leash and eventually even like it? I want to be able to take him with me on walks, to the park, on trips etc.. but i need him to be able to see a leash without freaking out. Any advice would be great!! thanks!!

Keeping put the leash on him. Put it on in the house, let him drag it around, take it off, repeat. My golden puppy likes to walk himself on the leash which looks adorable but can be annoying, really annoying when he walks the other dogs:)

Looks like your going to have to go a little slower with this one. He may even be a little apprehensive now.

Maybe try something like this. This is his session on nail clipping but I like the concept.

I'm sure others will come along with some better ideas....

I was told by Charlee's breeder to put it on her and let her drag it around for a few hours in the house. This way she won't think she's in trouble or going to get hurt when it's on her. After they get used to that you pick the leash up and walk wherever they want to go, then work on getting them to go with you.

Our baby hated the lead so we are using a harness that clips on the body rather than the neck. Took a week to get used to it but she's fine now, you do need to let them walk round the house with it on and, the world is a big place and that scares them to. Good luck
