Default Need Training Recommendations for our 13 week old male.

Both places I'm looking at look like they're dedicated to quality training, but the major difference is that ABTR just focuses on play (socialization) and noise desensitization along with "the humans wear costumes and play with the dogs to get them used to different looks" according to the girl I spoke with...She said that structured training comes after 5 months... This "puppy training" is just six classes that we can attend whenever we can fit it in. I'm not so sure about the puppy classes, but they offer great classes for older dogs (Safety Dog, Therapy Dog, CGC, Nose work, Agility...) The Lucky Dog offers play and basic obedience at this age...It's an 8 week course and offers AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. Lucky Dog also offers Advanced Obedience in 4 levels, CGC prep, CGC, Tricks, Agility. Just wondering if there is a clear program I should go with? Our end goal is to have Hugo certified as a Therapy Dog to assist with my work. Is it extremely important for him to have 6 sessions as described with ABTR or would it be safe to go ahead with a more structured class with Lucky Dog? I'm fine with and will probably end up taking classes from more than one place. He's 13 weeks tomorrow.

Therapy dogs need lots of socialization, so the first one you mentioned sounds like it might be good for that, but they also need the discipline to not be distracted while working. Why not call someone local who works with therapy animals and get their opinion. Not only could they steer you in the right direction, they may be familiar with these schools and be able to provide more knowledge.

Better to just start one thread per subject - multiple identical threads in different forums only causes confusion.
