Potty training problem :/
My boy is 4 and a half months old and WILL NOT poop outside. He will pee everytime even if it's just a tiny amount. But as soon as we take him inside he poops. It doesn't matter how long we are outside. The only time he goes pee inside is the middle of the night sometimes because he won't let us know he needs out ( we are trying a bell now). Whatever we try we can't seem to get him to poop outside. Advice?
I would try to make sure that any scent remaining in the house is removed. They tend to crap in the same spot and consider it a good dumping ground.
Like Schwartz said, feed and then go outside. They are like clockwork and will have to go within a half hour of eating. Keep the feeding consistent and on regular schedule.
You can train your dog to go in a certain spot. It becomes their safe dumping ground. I would put my puppy on a leash after eating and go into the woods just off the grass on the lawn. This way I don't have to pick it up!
As soon as your dog goes outside, praise him like he just cured cancer and give him a high value treat for his efforts. He will associate pooping outside with a reward and will change his habits.
Good luck! They have a huge load at this age and it can't be any fun.
