What do I do if my puppy listens to verbal correction?
For example, if I say "No" and she backs off whatever she is doing; should I say "Good girl"?
Perhaps I should actually be using "Leave it" and redirecting her to something acceptable instead of "No"? Would be a pity as she understands "No". However she does not always listen the first time or I need to increase the volume and intonation. Thanks (10 weeks old btw) |
you have a 10 week old pup that responds to "no".
that's very impressive, very impressive. when i used "no" i made my pup respond correctly (do what i wanted him to do). after the correction and the pup did what i wanted i praised him but it really depends on the situation. |
If "no" is working, it's entirely up to you if you change it to "leave it". I'd recommend it because we use no in so many situations in every day life, you could confuse the pup but 10 weeks old and backing off like that is pretty good. Responding to verbal corrections is a great thing.
