HELP - 7 month old puppy STILL popping inside
Need some help on this case.
7 old puppy that I got when he was 2 months. When I first got him, I was in college and had lots of time to train him, take him out during the day, etc. He eventually learned to go outside only because he was on a set schedule. However, now I've graduated and I've moved back home with my parents. He has started to poop inside, in the garage, pee even when I am standing right there. It's been very tough for my parents, they let him outside often but he seems to come in after hours and still poop inside. I don't know what to do, I can't leave him in the crate all day. How do I get him used to this new schedule? Also he jumps immediately coming out of the crate, how do I stop this? He doesn't bark or go near the door if he has to relieve himself, he'll just do it right there. What am I missing? |
Maybe the move is stressful? And if he jumps coming out of the crate..when you get home ignore him until he settles down and then let him out.

As GusGus mentioned it could be stress related from the move, and/or the change of routine.
A few more answers could help pin-point the issue. How long has he been in this new environment? Are you kennel training? From your post I am assuming he is male...is he neutered? Look at his environment, is his behavior changing just before he eliminates? (maybe a certain person is always near, or it is happening in the same area, etc.) Is he possibly fearful of something? Does he seem ashamed just after he eliminates? I know this is a lot to think about, but there are multiple reasons which can lead to multiple solutions. |
I'd suggest you basically treat him like a new puppy that needs to be housetrained again. Even with a change in schedule this shouldnt be happening.
