Hey guys! When my pup needs to go to the bathroom he notifies me by biting and it's hard to tell if he is playing or needs to go out. How would you suggest to get him to go the door better? When I do get him out he knows the exact spot in the yard where he is suppose to do his business at.

I have found that putting my puppy on a schedule works best. Take him out often, ask him if he needs to go out to potty and then take him out. My guys start learning to go to the door, but I do have to watch for that. My older dogs will go sit by the door or come get me and then go to the door. Some people also use bells that the puppy/dog hits when they have to go. Friend discovered that they will also hit the bells when they want a drink or when they just want to go outside to play.

i never taught my dogs to go to the door when they needed
to go out. when my dog was a pup i use to take him out often. at some point my dog started sitting by the back door when he wanted to go out which is funny to me because i always took him out the front door. as time went on he started to whine and pace when he needed to go out. now if he has to go he'll come to me or my GF and whine or nudge you with his head or whine and nudge. maybe he's giving you a signal he has to go out before he nips you. his signals to go out may change.
