Bad Trainer? - Page 3

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I've gotten a lot of good advice.

Right now my plan is to continue his training with just him and I until after the holidays. My goal will be to perfect these commands as much as possible. If I'm comfortable with those then I will consider a new trainer.

The commands we're going to work on are:

Healing
Watch me (where he makes eye contact and doesn't break it from distractions)
Sit
Down
Stay
Recall
Drop (dropping any of the numerous things he picks up on a daily basis)

i think u should take the test with this trainer like she promised don't you need this really bad?

you can perfect the commands after the test just get it over with. I think your dog deserves a CGC.

Good for you to question this trainer. If you can't find another trainer try to get a few good books. The Power of Positive Dog Training from Pat Miller is a nice one for self study.

Wouldn't that be cheating your dog and yourself from what the CGC is truly about??

Technically, the CGC evaluator is supposed to be someone other than the dog's regular trainer. Otherwise it's not much of a test, is it!
