We got our female gsd named Luna about 2 weeks ago, she will be 4 months December 5th....it's our first gsd....we've already taught her to sit, speak, majority knows her name, and play fetch..a friend of a family member trains gsds for police work, I haven't gotten in touch with him yet, what age can you start training, any idea on normal pricing, and is it one on one or do we drop her off....we love her so much if she would realize her wake up call isn't 5am crying in the crate lol.

You can start training puppies from day they are born - touch, sensation, etc. As far as obedience. Small stuff first. Click for eye contact, etc. Check with your K-9 trainer friend and see how much he would charge. Mine charged $15 a lesson for strangers and new people. By the time he left here he wasn't charging me anything because I could take over the class for him if he had to leave for any reason. I miss training with a group of dogs since he left. Training with just one or two isn't the same challenge. Four months is plenty old enough to train basic ob so I would start soon.

There is no such thing as "normal" pricing, it depends on what kind of training you're looking for (group classes, private trainer, with a club?) and where you live. Prices for everything are high in the SF Bay Area, so knowing what *I* pay for training wouldn't really help you.
If you go to your profile you can add your general location, which will appear below your username in all of your posts. |

Cost depends on the type of training and the area you live in.
The place my vet recommended is $175 for a 6-week training class. It meets for one hour each week and is a group class. They also have agility classes and classes to prepare for the canine good citizen test. |
