I forgot how wonderful it is to potty train when it's POURING rain, LOL! Grim didn't like getting wet, so he whined and kept wanting to stand between my legs to block the rain!
He did finally go.... but we came in soaking wet! I toweled him off since he wasn't at all pleased with being wet. Such fun!! Tomorrow we go to collar and leash training so I can start taking him out front to potty. More light at night and less steep stairs. I hope he takes to that as quickly as he's taken to everything else. I still have yet to see this boy spook. He does, however, continue to look me dead in the eye with the most intense look. He also rolled on his side to let me pet his belly!

LOL I gave up and bought a dog coat for Hex when he had to go out on lead for potty breaks after having surgery.
He used to take ages to potty and would end up totally soaked and then have to go back in his crate wet. His coat was already quite thin and long at 4.5 month old. I got laughed at so much for putting a coat on a GSD - but it beat having to dry him after every toilet break LOL We had so much cold weather and rain at that time, it was a real pest, dog coat on, plastic bag over plaster, go pee, hobble around for 10min find a place to poop - back inside, bag off, coat off.... On the other hand he now loves to be dried with the blowdryer LOL A good jacket is worth it's weight in gold when you're standing in pouring rain waiting for the dog to pee ![]() Trent - I love the name Draven!! |

Hehehe.... I remember those nights. I would stand there in my nightgown with a golf umbrella sheltering Hans more than myself, while thinking I have completely lost my mind

Next time you're out in the rain, think about all those puppies that have to be taken out in blizzards. Now that's really no fun, lol. Trust me! Not to mention that at that time of year we only seem to get about 8 hours of daylight, lol.

I have had to do the potty training thing in pouring rain and blizzard like conditions. It snowed so much one time that we made a snow fence and the little booger couldn't get out, he ran out peed and came back in. I did take all of my dogs out in the rain and stand there with them, so they wouldn't be afraid of the rain, thunder, or lightening. Attached is a picture of our snow fence

Thor and I have done ok in the rain... it seems to make him want to go all the faster to get back inside... but yesterday he saw his first snow flakes and was absolutely facinated with them! Cute... but when it was with a cold wind blowing, DAD wanted to get back inside quick! It took him a while to want to actually go... it was as though he forgot he had to go in the first place. Sigh... First substantial snow should be interesting!
