Default Introduction to a bite sleeve.

I wanted to introduce Immo to a bite sleeve, ordered a puppy soft sleeve for him to play bit of tug with, it came in today and it needed no introductions to him. He quickly took to biting it at first sight.

Here is a quick unedited video of him seeing the sleeve for the first time. It has quickly moved to the number one tug toy over his dozens he has. Though I rotate around tug toys and thankfully he has shown any real toy bias yet.

When I do give him the toy I can recall him 100% of the time, and probably 50% of the time right now he brings the toy back to me, other 50% he drops and comes without it. Right now he has yet to find out about keep away and I hope I can keep that up.

Wow, he's a total natural! Beautiful full bites, strong but calm (not hectic) pulling back, very nice! His breeding really shines through.

Thanks, he loves biting tug toys, he has snapped at my older girl who tried interrupting his tug time to play. Even through teething it wouldn't stop him, I had to stop because I was worried about the blood on the toys.

He is a great puppy, I only hope I can live up to him and not fail him. I have zero help on this island, the locals are not what I would call dog people, they ether run around or stay tied to a post. So unless someone moves here or I fly a trainer in its just me.

I was told after Caesar Mallin started being shown on TV here, the locals started taking more interest and walking their dogs.

I would have him on a line to work him, and not let him thrash the toy once he has it. You can cradle his chin with the sleeve in his mouth and gently stroke his side, that will teach him to hold calmly until you out him. Or keep him moving with it so he holds/not kills.
I feel for you not having anyone to train with....at least you can view youtube for help!

Never let him play with it by himself, and he should not be biting it on the floor....Good Luck!

Noted for future reference Cliff. What bad habits can come from biting on the floor?

I should add, what behavior would you have liked to have seen there?

Chewiness will result and lack of full grip or constant shifting of grip if behavoir becomes habit from playing on floor. Plus he will tear it up sooner.
