yes I suppose "to settle down to sleep" was misleading. He seems to think it's a free for all when he comes in ,while the other dogs are more calm.

My pup has human interaction all day and periodically through the day she goes into a "frenzy"..the other two dogs just step back and watch her run in circles, run into windows, and slide across the floor..then just as fast as she started she stops. Mine does not like to sleep at night, she is always on alert. Last night I got a paw in my face and a little whimper-she had to pee at 3am. I get up and take her out while the other dogs are looking at me like I'm crazy. When we came back in she decided it was play time..yep at 3 am she found every squeaky toy in the house and squeaked them...finally put her in the crate to sleep because God knows nobody else was going to

if your dog is spending a lot of time in the yard
alone he's going to be excited when he comes in
at night. i think he needs to be inside more. once he's
in the house more i think he'll settle down because
he use to being in the house. when it's bedtime i think
he'll settle down to sleep because he's use to being in the house
and being in the rythm of the house.
