Unhappy Why Just Me????

So, we had day 2 of Positive Puppy Training, and I figured I would force the issue... Apparently Mom is the only one handling the obedience portion of Wendy-Training.

I handed the lead and the treats to my Hubby and told him to practice the "Down" and "Release (Free)" commands.

Wendy and I have mastered this, and showed the trainer ( I was proud of lil'Wendy) so I let the trainer work with the Husband. Wendy didn't obey. He got a talking to about working with her as well, etc etc. Same stuff I say...

Anyone else live in a single authority household??

Yep. The dogs only behave for me.

Ozzy will only listen to my boyfriend if I make him. Haha. Momma is the only one who can tell him what to do. Probably because I don't let him get away with not listening after the first time I give a command, whereas everyone else will repeat themselves forty-two times before he responds. (Which drives me insane).

I like that he doesn't listen to anybody but me, though.

It's ok if your dog only listens to you....not uncommon at all. Great that you have learned to fill the leadership role for Wendy.

our dog is "our" dog. both of us train, feed, play with,
spend quality time, spend one on one time, walk,
go places, visit friends, etc with our dog. when you
have a multi family household i think the dog should be trained
to listen everyone equally and the way to handle that is
have everyone train, feed, spend time with, etc with
the dog.

what about when the OP isn't home? i think it's
better for the dog and everyone living in the house
that the dog listens to everyone.

Yep same thing here. My H will say "let's go potty" and Isa will just **** her head and lie down. H: "She won't go out" Me: "Let's go potty" Isa: "OK" and runs to door.

I do think much is because he does let her get away with things. If he tells her to stay and she doesn't he doesn't address it.

Also, I am the one with her 24/7. I feed her. I take her to her classes. She travels with me.

Similar situation here. I think Stella sees my H as someone to play with. Of course I am the feeder, walker, brusher, bather, etc etc. Not too surprising.
