My puppy Daisy (ie "Crazy Daisy") is 10 months old. In the house, she is Miss Relaxed, typical velcro dog, laying on me or near me. On walks, if she sees a squirrel she perks up but we keep walking and she can move on. But in the backyard she goes wild. She runs circles, panting, yipping, and basically losing her mind over all the squirrels in the trees. I can't get her attention for anything when she gets like this. Her daycare mentioned her high prey drive to me also with certain dogs at camp. What can I do to channel this energy? I run her most mornings for about 2 miles (I run, she walks), endless games of fetch, and evening walks. I also take her roller blading so she can really run, which she loves. We are also in intermediate obedience classes once a week.
Is there a way to get her attention when she gets all ramped up? Thanks for your help! Sam |

You can't 'train' once your dog is crazy and into the chasing prey drive.
You need to work on getting the focus and attention, and your ability to reward that, BEFORE your dog rewards itself with the joy of running and chasing! There is a great online course The 5 Minute Formula to a Brilliant Recall- Opens Soon! that would be right up your alley!!!
