Default Well trained pup, but not in public park.

Kira is very responsive to whatever training I've been doing this far. I realize that she's barely 5 months, and subject to lapses.

Today, I took a walk with her in a local park, and since it was an exceptional November day, everyone was out. Kids, dogs, bikes, skates, you name it.

For the first time, I can honestly say that she acted as if she never knew how to walk on a leash.
She was in a heightened state of awareness, a heightened state of excitement, and just overall, all over the place.
I could not get her attention today. I found this very concerning, and at the same time, very scary. I was imagining losing her on a recall.

Kira is always in a calm, relaxed state. Her personality, is not the excited pup. She doesn't greet people in a tail wagging manner, and she never goes over to people for affection.
Her hacks were raised from head to toe, and she was attempting to lunge at every dog that walked by.
I had to sit on a bench, and calm her down before walking her. Very small attention span today.

What's the best way to handle days like this?

she was just overwhelmed. puppies have the attention span of a gnat, so you have to work outside slowly to get her to behave the way she does indoors. she is just used to behaving at home, so now when you take her out you do it in smaller steps, start out in the yard, and work on her manners etc there, then once that is proofed, move ahead to the next step, the front yard, rinse, repeat... while some pups can focus at that young age in public with alot going on some just cant.. she is just a pup, so training just has to go at a slower pace thats all.. patience is key. **** my one dog is 9 years old and he sometimes has the brain of a gnat when we go to a new place and he has been completely socialized his whole life lol

find super yummy treats that the pup only gets for training and use those to work on behaviors etc
