Default Little help

I have a 9week old GSD and I am courious on a feeding scheddual that is apropreate for him. I was feeding him about a 1/4 cup 4 times a day but this was really messing with his potty time. (it has yet to get on a routine) Would it be ok to feed him only 3 times a day with bigger portions?

I was feeding Knuckles 3-4 times a day the first week and he just inhaled everything I gave him. Was feeding him a couple handfulls, whatever that equals out to be. I'm down to twice a day, same amount, and he's usually walking away 3/4 of the way through. But then again, because of this forum, he's on adult food now. I don't know if that makes a difference?

Three times a day is fine. Make sure he's quiet before and after feeding to help prevent bloat. What's your pup's name? Got any pictures?

Build up of gas in the tummy. It can kill a dog if left untreated. I keep gasex strips handy for mine. I usually make mine rest for about 30 mins after I feed them.

In your signature, it shows that Knuckles was born on 8/21/11...so that puts him at just over 6 weeks. You say he is on Adult food now because of this forum??? Or was that date when you got him? Because I am not sure that most folks on here would agree to put a 6 week old on adult food.

I've read many threads about feeding a puppy all lifes stages adult food, so we are doing the transfer over now and by the time he's 8-9 weeks old he will be on adult food only.

Ya I have been told that as well. It has something to do with having to much protien or something. My trainer told me to keep him on puppy chow till about 7 or 8 months and there would be no problem so that is what I am going to do.
