I was wondering if anyone had a successfull method of potty training?
Here is the senerio. My puppy is 9 wks, and I am home for the next 2 weeks. My puppy is constantly supervised, and any crazy schedule if it works is OK by me. I would like to set up a feeding and bathroom schedule that works, but I am not so sure with the GDS. I have a Chihuahua puppy, Gizmo whose schedule I have down like clock work. Since I am home for the next 2 weeks I would like to figure out a schedule that has more success then I am having right now. My current schedule is Morning Bathroom Break Feed *crate 30mins later long walk *Bathroom Break in between Lunch Bathroom Break Feed *crate 30mins later long walk *Bathroom Break in between Dinner Bathroom Break Feed *crate 30mins later long walk *2 Bathroom Breaks *Long Walk before bed Late Night Bathroom Break I appreciate experienced input who has been successfull figured out a schedule. |

You have a good schedule and it is great that you can take the time to do it. The best thing is that you will have opportunities to catch her about to go and you can get him/her right outside. As far as the bathroom breaks, sometimes they are more likely to poop after eating than before. You will find out how yours is. But a routine is top priority. Dogs train themselves to match the routine very well. |

My puppy is backwards as far as what I can remember from puppies. He eats, plays, takes a nap and AFTER his nap is when he needs to go out. Sometimes this is an hour or two after he eats. I remember the general rule of thumb to be 20 mins after they eat, but I guess I have a rulebreaker.
