She probably did but there was so much info given to me and this being my first dog makes it hard to remember

This is what I have read to..... And in regards to reading up, I have read about five or more books ontop of browsed this site, but I have never owned a dog before and its just so new to me.

I've been dog sitting a very young pup (non gsd) and she just turned 8 weeks. yesterday i only worked on getting her out of the door. poor thing is terrified of leaving the apartment. i'm hoping by the time she's confident enough for a walk she'd have had all her shots.
But back to topic, what you're describing is pretty normal for an 8 week old pup. small dog big world.

she's only 8 weeks old. everything is new to her.
at 8 weeks old i played with my pup a lot
in the yard. to get him use to his collar
i put it on him when playing with him. i put it on
him when he was indoors sometimes. i only
put his collar on when i could watch him. i never leave his collar
on at any other time. keep playing with your pup.
take little walks in the begining. don't worry in the near
future it's going to be you who's tired of walking.

Is that cause she is scared?
When my puppies are so young, I don't leash walk them at all. Just take them loose in the yard (they stay right with me for the first few weeks). As they get older I still use the yard to poo/pee them, but for exercise I pack them in the car, take them to a NEW place, and then we walk/hike/socialize there.

I think they are strongly attached to 'home' much of the time when young so harder to get them to walk away. But when I pack them in the car and drive to a new place they do fine.

you are also up in Barrie , which I think has quite a bit of snow. Young pups are very poor in thermo regulation. Not only is the walk tiring (forced march) she is getting chilled to the core . Not good for health .
You could not have had her long at this point. So she is going through adjustments and stresses - change of "home", routine, food, water, growing. You don't want to over do it .
At this age her exercise should be self- selected , when and if she wants to . A pup of this age needs rest .
The day will come when you will be refusing to go further, you will head for the first park bench and sit down , but the dog wants to go and go go ...and go.
