Default rewards while training

Hello all!

Something I was hoping you could help me with. Ella is 17 weeks now, we are about half done our first puppy obedience class. We practice our stuff at home all the time and the basics she has down really well, she also knows wait and will take a treat gently when being rewarded for sit down etc. The problem I am having is now that we are starting heel and having her weave through our legs (kind of like a figure 8). She is so excited for the treat that is supposed to be leading the way (if that makes any sense) that she just keeps chewing on our hands and when we try to get her to weave though our legs she bites at them while trying to get to the treat. I have tried switching to a toy but that has not seemed to work. We are clicker training and when I click and try to give her the toy she ignores it and looks for a treat. Not sure what I am doing wrong or how I can fix this. My husband thinks maybe we are moving to fast? and need to go back to simpler things but she is so smart I want to keep challenging her!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

How about tossing the treat between your legs and clicking as she goes through your legs? That's what I had to do. Break it down into smaller steps and improvise.
