Wanted: Bite Sleeve

Does anyone have an old bite sleeve they would like to get rid of? I am looking for a sleeve similar to this - http://www.elitek9.com/Sleeves/slv_images/44_tn.jpg - that takes jute covers. It doesn't have to be good condition, as I will not be using it for bite work.

As I won't actually be using it for bite work, I don't want to spend $100 for a new one. So if anyone has one that's kind of banged up and that they'd like to sell at a reasonable price, please let me know.

I'm also looking for a plain leather used / old-ish tracking harness.

Just as I'm thinking, if it's for a military K9 training article display..or a re-enactment.. could you borrow an old sleeve from a club? They might let you borrow if it's for educational purposes, or a photoshoot, or whatever. Just an idea.

That's exactly what I'm planning to use it for, Patti. We get a lot of kids at these events and I think they might like to see what a bite sleeve looks like.

I don't belong to any clubs or anything, since we don't do Schutzhund, and I would want something I can keep, so I don't have to go looking / asking for one every time we have an event coming up, as they're sometimes on short notice (ie, we find out a week before the event).

We have a couple of big ones coming up at the end of September and in October, and while I have plenty of stuff to lay out, I'd love to get one pretty soon. I just don't want to spend $100+ on it.

Chris, that is so cool! I am hoping that you find one. Maybe ask police or sherrif who do have K9s if where they train they have retired equipment that's seen better days? Anyone with military dogs? What DOES happen to old stuff that has been so damaged beyond use that military dogs no longer use it.. just thrown away, for safety's sake? Just some ideas.

I'll definitely be checking with the MP's on base as well as the local PD. (I have a friend on the local PD who may be able to help.)

We've got one sleeve that's in pretty bad shape. Been crushed and pretty well demolished by hard biting dogs. It's still usable somewhat, but Tim might be willing to part with it. I'll ask him and let you know.

Even the cheapest new sleeve on the market is going to run $100. She said she'd rather not pay that for a demo prop.

Incidentally, the one we have that we might part with is the "X sleeve" on that website. Less than 2 years old and in horrible condition. I'd never buy another one of those if I wanted something to actually use for bitework.

If we hadn't bought it at the full price instead of the severly discounted price they're selling them for now, I'd agree.
