Default Large canine wheelchair for sale

I purchased a custom made wheelchair from Eddie's Wheels http://www.eddieswheels.com/ last year for my large male white shepherd. My Riley passed away on August 4, 2008 at the age of 14.7 years old. He became handicapped last July and I tried many devices. I'm just so greatful I had him for another year, and he really worked with me the whole time and adjusted well. We were a team.

I don't need the wheelchair and am selling it. I paid $450 for the wheelchair and I am selling it for $200 + shipping. It's is very good condition.

Here's a few pictures of my beautiful guy in his wheelchair; he was such a cutie right up to his passing.

I can be contacted at kareeann@roadrunner.com

You might like to contact petswithdisabilities.com (might be .org) and let them know you have this cart for sale as well.

I put a call in to my vet too. She called me a few weeks ago looking for a cart for a client with a Husky just diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy.

I had lost my original measurement taken when I ordered my custom made cart, but Eddie's Wheels contacted me with the measurements:

A - 27
B - 20
C - 7 1/4
D - 17 1/2
E - 10 3/4

Please visit eddieswheels.com to find out how to measure your dog. It would also be a good idea to give them a call once measured to see if my cart would work. My cart will also be posted later this week on their used carts page.

Regards,
Karee

Thanks for sharing the photos - my Trick is just now getting weak in her haunches and I can foresee a cart in her near future. She just has too much life left in her to give up on her when her hind legs get weak.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions in regards to handicap pets or using a cart. I can say that I'm very happy that I did purchase a cart and worked with his handicap. Riley did pass on his own at the age of 14 years 7 months on August 4, 2008, about a year after he became handicap. We had one more year together and it was worth it for both of us. You know your dog, and mine surely wanted to live, and I helped him do just that as long as he wanted to. I had many special moments this past year and I have no regrets.

Hi Karee,

Read your storyabout your shepard and I can only imagine how much your heart was broken when he passed. The reason for my writing is that I looked at your photos of Riley and believe it or not with the exception of smaller ears and a little shorter coat our dog Sandi (a lab/shepard mix) could pass for his daughter. She is the same color, has the same color nose, and is about the same size. Sandi recently has lost control of her hips and all rear leg fuctions. The Drs. are stumped as tp what has happened and we've gone as far as having her take a mylogram and a spinal fluid test. Both tests came back normal. The Drs. treaed her for imflammed sciatic nerve using steroids and while this helped somewhat, once we started weaning her off she continued to get worse. Now a doggy wheel chair is our last hope and again while looking thru the internet and just seeing your add and Riley, I thought your chair was meant for our Sandi. So the next question is, Do you still have your doggy wheelchair? Please let me know ASAP as I will need to look elsewhere if you no longer have it. Thank you for taking the time to read this long story.

Best regards,

I'm sorry to hear about your girl, and I still have the cart. Please look at my earlier post to see Rileys measurements. My cart was custom built by Eddie's Wheels. You can visit their site to see how to measure Sandi. If measurements are close, call Eddie's Wheels first before contacting me again as they will give you guidance if the sizing will work or not. Also keep in mind my cart was made for a very large big boned male (100lb) who was altered. They also have used carts posted on their website for females as well.

Also there is a very good rear harness I purchased from In the Company of Dogs website called the Walkabout Rear Harness it comes in three sizes and is priced $49 to 69. It was the best one I found on the market. Comfortable and washable. http://www.inthecompanyofdogs.com/default.asp
