Actually 33 feet or 10 meters is regulation for tracking.
I use a 30' for training though.

At a trial the judge was giving us instructions and mentioned that he will only accept regulation 10 meter tracking lines, nothing less. He related that at one club he was officiating at (not ours, LOL), he asked: "Does everyone have a 10 meter tracking line?" And one person gasped in horror and panic: "Oh no! I don't!!! I only have a 33 foot line!"

Not totally SchH related, but I like shopping Tractor Supply (TSC) for dog stuff, and a lot of the horse and stock stuff is useful, like stock sticks and leg wrap. They also have medical supplies there.

I think I will go with the site LIN was talking about if I want training lunges, now trying to find a good deal on the 33FT leads.... the balls on the rope ( elitek9 is the best priced so far I think) and I DID finally find a feed store with Burlap today, but it is 2 bucks a bag.. blah... but it's cool, worth it!

If you are going to order a 30 foot line I would think LONG AND HARD against getting nylon. It can be a KILLER on your hands unless you wear gloves. Get a "burn" on your hands from it a time or 2 and you will never use it again!

I like leather in general. BUT a leather long line could cost more than the DOG. I use cotton as it is easy on the hands and generally pretty cheap. The only bad thing is that debris(sp) sticks to it pretty bad and it if gets wet it more than doubles in weight.
I know a lot of people like the newer "synthetic"(I think that's what they call it.) type lines and leashes. I can't remember exactly what it is called. Hopefully someone that does will see this and respond.

I was looking at the ASATs on Elitek9.com actually was thinking about those. My only problem is the shipping charges on there. I just wanted the ball/rope thing, and it's the same price in shipping as to order the actual toy

The ASAT is well worth the price you have to pay. I have a 15 foot lead, 33 foot lead and an agitation collar in ASAT from Elite K9 and absolutely love them. Super easy care and have held up incredibly well so far.
My trainer insisted I use my double thick nylon 6 foot leash a few weeks ago and it tore up my back hand pretty good - I told him I was using the ASAT from now on. Last edited by High Impact; 11-03-2010 at 01:00 AM. |
