A friend of mine uses an electric fence in combination with her chain link fence. She is on a corner in a very busy part of town and has problems with idiots stopping their dogs in front of her house and causing one of her dogs to fence fight. The electric fence worked well for him just to keep him from getting too close to the real fence in combination with her training him.

In your case though, I don't think an electric fence would work. One of the problems with them is dogs can find out real quick that if they just go fast the shock doesn't last long. Or with high drive if he sees something he wants to go over for, he probably won't feel a thing even on the strongest fence. I agree with Amaruq that your best bet is a kennel with a top so he cannot jump out, and never leaving him in the fenced yard unsupervised.

Invisible Fence brand has always worked well for me. I have mostly had Rhodesian Ridgebacks, which are very aggressive and not fearful at all. Both of my Bob's" and my "Ginger" all did very well with that product. I will say... I was not at all impressed with my local Invisible Fence dealer/installer, he was incompetent, but the system installed well and working is very very good.
