Default 42" metal crate, 2 or 3 doors

India is currently squished into a 36" crate in my Element. It's okay for very short drives, I guess, but I really want to get something bigger. I want a crate that is 42" long, but it must have a door on one of the long sides as it will have to go across the back of the car. Does anybody near Cincinnati/Dayton/Columbus/Chillicothe/Lexington have a used crate of this type that they'd like to sell?

Or, an online source that's cheap? Best price I've found is $85 on Amazon, with free shipping.

ebay - but price may be pretty close, and the crate is fairly lightweight

Metal crate, two doors, folds down...
Wal-Mart. Probably a little cheaper and you can get it without waiting.

Marsha, I've never seen a two-door at my area stores and I don't see it on their website, just the one-door and nothing larger than 36" long. What brand is it?

It's 42 x 28 x 31 and says Dog Kennel (Dept. 08 WalMart) with double doors on the box. I have 4 of them, and they do have the double doors. For some reason, one of the boxes says Dog Cage instead of Dog Kennel, but not sure why.

I had one crate, and bought 3 more when we moved back to Nebraska. Needed to use them until I got the kennel panels and gates put up in the garage to utilize the doggie doors for indoor / outdoor runs.

I found Dozer's 48" crate on Craigslist for $50. Obviously I did a local search and I went and picked it up but it is worth saving $70-$100.

It has a few little rust spots but besides that it is perfect. It is a foldable one. Go on and search in your area for dog crate.

You could also try Tractor Farm Supply (if there's one in your area). We got our 42" crate for $60 from them.

However, be careful with the "cheapie" crates that are too inexpensive. They bend very easily and tend to have sharp edges.

I've been haunting craigslist for weeks and have posted want ads--nobody has double door crates.

Marsha, that's weird--our local Walmarts and the website dont' have the double door crates! SouthernThistle, same thing--TSC doesn't carry the double doors.

Hm - our TSC carries double door, and our local CL had a dealer selling double door for $70 for a 48" crate.

Crap! Why can't my local places carry them?!? Darn it. I've got the money, I just don't want to pay full price for a brand new one. I've been telling myself to be patient, but every time I take India in the car, she looks so crunched/squashed into her crate.

Well, off to try to sell some stuff so I can buy a new saddle. I posted a new want ad on craigslist, so maybe that will bear fruit.
