Default Back from tracking camp!

Wow, did I have a great time at tracking camp in northern Michigan. We tracked each dog 2 times a day, for 4 days. We did long tracks, short tracks, tracks laid in all different terrains, and concrete, by all different people. And even an overnight track.

My puppy was the only dog who didn't do the overnight track. My girl was voted most improved and was doing great 300 yard tracks today before left. My puppy just took to it like a fish in water. I never even said a word and he was tracking his little butt off. The only problem he had was today, the trainer said I tracked across a wind tunnel and the puppy stood there for a long time sniffing up down and thinking. Finally, I moved him forward a couple of steps and he finished up.

The main thing I learned was not to underestimate the dog and don't leave out something because you think your dog can't do it, because he can. And I learned to shut up and let the dog figure it out. LOL!

Oh, and cross tracks! We tracked where we walked, walked where we tracked, and tracked over our earlier tracks, sometimes. Didn't matter one bit, even little Balto could tell the difference.

Anyway, I'm so excited about tracking now and it was fun for all of us.

Okay, I just put some photos over the the Pictures forum.

The trainer is going to mail a CD of most of the photos from the camp.
