Hi we just got our 2 year old girl, Pizazz Vom Mittlewest, She is very pretty & was started on schutzhund. But she doesn't like to do the bite work, so we now get a a wonderful dog. We would like to have her trained in tracking as we live in a VERY rural part of NYS above the adirondack MTs. My husband has been a part of the fire/rescue in this area for over 10 years. In our area we have no paid firefighters/ems. He volenteers his time for training & helping. We would really like to use her to help find lost people, as this happens allot in this area. But we have no clue where to start? We are thinking we should hire someone to train her in this But not sure if there is anyone out there that does this? Thanks for any help. Veronica

Are there any K9 Search and Rescue groups in your area?
As with any other "training", "having her trained" by someone else is likely NOT the best idea. She would do best to be "trained" by the person that will ultimately be handling her. Especially in a situation like this, where the handler HAS to be able to "read" the dog. Maybe you could find a group close to you here: New York State SAR Groups.

Tracking and trailing are a bit different. Most SAR dogs trail and air search. So if you want her to be an efficient SAR dog dog train her to trail and air search. Hopefully you can find someone to work with you out there.
Mittlewest dogs are awesome too.
