Default Home Air Purifiers

Does anyone know if these foul up an average dog's ability to scent out objects in a room? I'm not talking about a professional working dog's ability, it's just something I have noticed with my pet GSD. One of the games she's learned to play is "find it" which involves my hiding an object (such as her collar or a sock or my wallet) in a room while she is in a sit-stay in another room. I show her the article and give her a good sniff, then I come back after hiding it and let her tear off to find it. When she does I reward her. She loves it and has done really well at it. She does pretty well outside with the game too. Last week I put in 2 air purifiers in the house and ever since then she seems baffled when she goes looking for the object. I always make sure she succeeds but she seems to be encountering difficulty. Would really appreciate some input on this?

We play that with sarge too, I tell my wife to take him outside for a minute, then she brings him back in and tells him to find daddy. He searches me out no matter where I hide. He loves that game. Dont know about the air purifiers though, sorry.

Not sure how they work, but if they are pulling "impure" air in, and pushing cleaner air out, at a minimum they are moving the scent around...to what extent I couldn't tell you though. Have you changed the object you are hiding, or any other aspect of the game? New meds? Other changes in her life?

It's a fun game for sure - never thought about air purifiers! We don't have any....interesting question.

It's not been my experience that an air purifier affects the ability to detect an odor, one way or the other.
