I love tracking as a sport! I go to a Schutzhund club every week that I have been going to for about 4 months, and they let me track (and do obediance and protection work) with one of their retired SchH3 dogs. I absolutely love it! I really want to try tracking with Harley. Harley will not be doing this for competition, just for fun and for my personal experience. I don't know a lot about it, but I know some simple techniques to get me started.
-Is there more I should be aware of before I just jump into this? -Do you know some ways I can train this (techniques)?

If you aren't going to be trialing(why not?) then just go and have fun! Onyx loves to track, but I'll never trial her as she is reactive and would never let the judge approach her without showing attitude. That said, it is something that is great to work her brain and she truly enjoys working her nose.
If you are going to club every week, let the TD help you with Harley and how to begin/add in corners & the articles . |

But yes, I would love to do this just for fun! I have noticed how amazing his sence of smell is, and I want him to use that to have fun and keep him busy. I will talk to the trainer about starting tracking with him. Thanks!
