After all this time thinking about it we started tracking last month.
The first time out I was a little concerned. She seemed off that day and not really interested. It was a hot day too. The instructors said she was very methodical and keep working. The 2nd time she did great. Nose to the ground the entire time, eager to start and again the intructors said she was very methodical. I did drop the odd piece of steak in the track this time. We started with a food drop every step. Now I'm going to be working on a food drop every foot for four feet, then four feet of nothing, and increasing the length of the trail. The trainers are part of the local SAR team. All proceeds go to the Hamilton Mountain Rotary Club who in turn sponsor the Hamilton Police Volunteer Search & Rescue who is running this program. I think I'm going to enjoy this. I would also like to get her titled. Can anyone recommend a good book? |
