Default Our first tracking lesson

Benny and I had our first tracking lesson today with Julia Priest. She laid a straight line track about 20 yards while I held Benny on a long line and let him watch. He quickly and easily followed the track . Then we put him in the car and he watched while I laid the track. Again he quickly followed it and reached the jack pot at the end. Benny seemed to think "What; I get to pull her, keep my nose on on the ground and eat stuff and rewarded for it? If I am dreamin don't wake me!"

Julia said he did very well and should progress quickly. I will be laying tracks on my own, gradually increasing the length, not letting Benny see, letting them sit for 15 minutes. We will have another lesson in about a week and a half.

It is really cool to see a dog do what comes so naturally to them. I like that it is a job he can do even into his senior years. Julia wants me set a goal of putting a TD on him next year.

Frank and I have our first Tracking lesson April 28th, I've never done any tracking training, but I've had several people tell me I should try to title him in it.
You're making me anxious to get started!

Tracking is great for dogs that may have reactivity, because they don't have to worry about anything but where their nose leads them. Enjoy it, lucky you have a great trainer to learn with!
