I imprinted tracking in Akela when he was 9 weeks old, he played with scent boxes and a couple of short straight lines, but at the advice of some people I stopped altogether and waited for him to mature a bit before continuing.
I started again only a week ago. Today it was supposed to be his third session since we restarted, a curved line, almost half-moon (couldn't be straight because of the terrain, with a big bush blocking my way) of about 100 meters with bait in every step. I thought it was a clean area, but when I had already started the track with Akela I discovered that stray dogs had eaten ALL the food of the track. Akela was already on track, completely focused so I let him continue, he then followed the track with beautiful precision, step by step, only maybe a bit fast because of the lack of food. If he found three pieces of kibble in all the track, he was lucky, but I had my waist-bag with food in it so I rewarded at the end, more because of how proud I was of him than for anything else. I think he is getting the idea

Excellent!!
I remember going back to run a track and seeing coyote eating my bait. One of the best tracks Tara ever ran. Seemed to make her even more intense.

We tracked twice today and he keeps doing great. With a dog like him it is easier to like tracjing more and more
