London and I both love to run. We don't care how cold it is, how far it is, how early in the morning it is, .....we just love to hit that trail. In addition to running, London loves to use his big snoot to track people, dogs, things. With that said, we are both very curious about Tracking. London is not a registered GSD, nor does he look like a true GSD. But his parents were both GSDs (his mom had papers to prove it and his father was a handsome GSD!
). Out of the 12 pups from that litter, London was the only one with soft-ears. I never cared about that issue, I love him none-the-less. But since he is a bit "unique" in his appearance and without papers, would we be disqualified to track???I'd like to find out before I bring him out to wherever and have them tell us to hit the road! Here is a photo of my gorgeous boy! ![]() ![]()

London is sure a cutie. Love the ears. You might be able to get a performance number from the AKC if your dog qualifies. Don't know how hard it would be to get or if such a thing exists. One alternative is to join AMBOR http://www.ambor.us
Might also look into ASCA and a local schutzhund club as well. |

Thanks guys! I'll let him read these complimentary posts.
And now I am psyched about checking out our local "Richmond Dog Obedience Club." I found them online and they do have tracking events! Can't wait!

I know someone that has a GSD that looks very much like your dog. His dog has more titles than I could list! It's all about devoting your time to your dog and training. Get your PALS number and have FUN with your dog. Good luck!

Since he is a purebred GSD apply for his listing as that. You could do tracking if you want to then. I bet you can get him listed. Hope you find a good club. We have had a lot of fun with tracking folks.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am psyched about getting into this sport. London is an altered, 90 pound male German Shepherd with SUCH an intense tracking interest. When we jog on the trails, he constantly has his big snoot to the ground tracking deer, other neighbors dogs, my husband.
And one game I play with constantly while I am trying to get work done is to hide his favorite toy, "Yellow." He will bring it to me in my second floor office and I will take it and put him in a sit-stay. I will then go downstairs and REALLY hide "Yellow" so that it will take him a LONG time to find. (This gives me more time to work, uninterrupted.) At first, he would use his nose to try to sniff out the toy. NOW he uses his snoot to track my footsteps in the house to find the toy IMMEDIATELY! I was so amazed how he figured that technique out on his own. I did call a local Tracking Club but I haven't heard back. I will try them again. Here is London with "Yellow" at his feet.
