So I took Shane to a new field, and this field is awesome, its HUUUUGE!! So I get there, lay my track, and when Im at my car getting Shane out, a car drives by and I hear barking dogs.
So Im thinking, "Oh great, some person is gonna start playing with their dogs right on the track Im about to run Shane on" BUT this field is gigantic, so I figure, once they see me with Shane on the field, they'll probably head towards the other end. So Im on the first leg with Shane, and the lady lets all her dogs out, a couple Goldens and Flat Coated Retrievers, and they're running all over the track (I am marking my track with flags). Im not too worried about them walking on the track, Shane hasent had any problems with that when we've had people walk over our tracks. So he's a bit distracted, but he still works through it and we finish the first leg, which was about 153 yards. So we take the first turn, which goes to the right, and RIGHT infront of us (within 20 feet), is the lady with her dogs, litterally ON the track, carrying a bunch of dog training gear. So we stop, and I tell her "Im doing a track on this field, can you give me like, 5 minutes and I'll be done?" Meanwhile Im thinking, this field is HUUUGE!! Why is she walking around so close to me? So she goes "Oh...." So I thought she understood, after all, she's obviously into dog training, she must know what tracking is, in general anyways. So after the 2nd turn, we are on the last (3rd) leg, and there's the lady, doing retrieve training RIGHT on the track again!! Again, this track is marked with flags, and she also had seen me picking up the flags as we worked the track and passed them. She's litterally, 10 feet from the last article, and she's just blowing her whistle and sending her dogs out! The nerve of this lady! I dont understand why she had to be right on top of me in such a huge area, there is plenty of room for us both to train, but she decides to be right on top of me the whole time, even after I asked her nicely if she could just give me 5 minutes and I would be out of the way and she could of had the whole field to herself, and again, I was their FIRST! I bet she wouldnt of appreciated if she was there and I just started laying a track right where she was training! I wouldnt of been so annoyed if it was just some Joe Schmoe playing with their dogs, but she obviously knows about dog training and tracking, and when I told her what I was doing, she still didnt care. Later that night, I realized Ive seen that lady at shows and the dog training place I go to once in a while. The dog she was training is OTCH dog. Sorry that was so long, just had to vent!

Rude is a nice word for her. I'd have used one that begins with D and rhymes with what you use to make tea.

Just because someone has dogs and does retriever training doesn't mean they know anything about tracking.
The "Oh" could have been her way of try not to look unknowledgeable. If she didn't know what you were doing the flags would have had no meaning to her. I tend to OVER explain things to people. Drives my husband NUTS sometimes but I want to be SURE they understand. Having been an adult educator I KNOW that many adults do not feel comfortable asking questions.

Ack - hit the wrong key!
I would have told her that my track went 'that way' - pointing out the flags and asked is she wouldn't mind using a different area.

If I stumbled upon some flags while in the middle of playing or training my dogs, and I noticed someone tracking I definitely would have moved my crew to an entirely different area, I would have been irritated too, and your right, the fact that she knew better is what really makes it rude, like she didn't care what you were doing at all. Very rude indeed! It is odd how people seem to gravitate towards others, just in general, I was in a completely empty parking lot one day and when I came out of the store back to the lot someone had literally parked right beside me, it was a huge lot and yet they parked right next to me. Not that it was a rude act but I do remember thinking, look at all these empty spaces and the person parked right next to me.
Jenn - What do you use to make tea? Ha ha, I am also trying to figure out what your word is, lol! You have baffled us all!
