Default What do you use for food on the track?

We've been using the food rolls cut up into small pieces for tracking, but today when we went, Dima smelled the food and quickly looked back at me in almost total disgust. She then got her nose back down, ate the food and proceeded to do a pretty good track.

I know she's hungry when we track so I'm thinking maybe she's tired of the same food that I use. The ants are not a problem yet... so my question is:

What kinds of foods do you use in your track laying? We haven't started articles yet but need to do that pretty soon.

Thanks.

Meat roll, hot dogs, peanut butter dog biscuits, cheetohs, anything the dog likes! I like to use different things to keep it interesting for the dog.

I tracked last week with someone who used a cinnamon bun at the end of the track for her dog!

When he was a puppy with food galore on the track I used the refrigerated biljac as it was most cost effective. Now that we use very little food, most of it coming at articles, I use natural balance rolls.

To get Chico started I used frozen meatballs. They smell strong, and the only time he ever gets them is when he is tracking, so he is always eager to find them

Natural Balance rolls, hot dogs (organic! lol), cut up pieces of last night's dinner...
I've also made some liver treats myself. Comes out to be a lot cheaper than buying! Here is the recipe...
http://www.workingdogs.com/doc0179.htm

I also keep a couple packs of store-bought treats (Wellness jerky treats, the trial size Natural Balance rolls, etc) in the car for spur of the moment tracking. I've detoured to a tracking field a few times and realized when I got there I had no bait...so I always keep something that doesn't spoil with me.
Luckily I am at the point now where I don't HAVE to use bait. That makes life a lot easier!!! I usually put a few pieces down anyway, but I don't have to spend time cutting up bait in advance...which I hate with a passion

Right now I just use kibble and meals often = tracking. We also have a "special" container with a "special" treat for the end of a track and that has Natural Balance in it, or anything better than kibble.

Usually hotdogs. Sometimes I have used roast, burger, cheese, kidney (totally gross) and left over cooked meat.

Don't use food! Only from my hand at the articles. Then I use chicken, left over steak or any other very hi value food.

Only kibble. Diabla is way too food driven and if I use something more yummy she gets too hectic.
