Default Enthusiastic Tracking

Have any of you used ENTHUSIASTIC TRACKING: A STEP BY STEP TRAINING HANDBOOK by William Sanders to help you start tracking? Does it really help/work?

I'm just looking at a guide or something to help me with Anna's tracking work since there are no tracking clubs near us, like for her to get a TD title, we'll have to travel somewhere at least two hours away to try this, so I'm basically on my own. She's doing well, but I know there's probably some important work I'm missing and would love a how to guide.

Any other resources would be helpful too! Thanks!

Gary Patterson has a great book-Tracking: from the beginning, though this is more for Schutzhund, not AKC style tracking.

I bought that, as well as Glen Johnson's book. http://www.dogwise.com/ItemDetails.cfm?ID=dgt127
They are SUPER!

Granted, I don't have a TD yet, but so far, so good.

I have Sil's book (Enthusiastic Tracking). I LOVE it. It's geared more towards non-SchH tracking, though so it depends on what type of tracking you want to do.

I'll be looking at the AKC style of tracking...which I'm guessing this book is geared more for? Correct?

Sil's book is very good, I do have it and you can follow it to work on your own.

http://www.akc.org/judges_directory/...action=results

Hope this link works. It is a list of tracking judges in Alabama, Tennesee, Miss. and Georgia.

I don't know where in AL you are and maybe one of these judges is close enough to help every now and then. Mnay AKC judges offer classes even if they are not near a club themsleves.

That is wild! The link I posted was for tracking judges but when I checked it was field trials that posted. Let me check that again and maybe just paset the page. I had copied the page that I was looking at with a bunch of tracking judges......
