I have the reverse problem.
People starting threads for every thought that goes through their head. Sometimes it would be better to look at old threads and if that's not enough info, then start a new one.

I bumped a 2yr old thread as a newbie or replied to one - don't quite remember, and then questions were raised about it being spammer...I'm like nooooo, I'm not da spammaaa

I'll bring this to the attention of the other Mods and Admins - I know the issue with old threads has been brought up before. I know in the past old threads being bumped up had been locked - sorta confusing when people are giving advice to a member that has been inactive for over two years - though at the same time some good info can be gotten out of it.
And when we do lock old threads, sometimes because they have been bumped up by a spammer - then we get complaints about a thread being locked for not reason . . . I'd love to make everyone happy all the time, but seems to be a tricky business.

The bumping up of old threads gets brought up for discussion quite regularly. As Mods and Admins, we will deal with them on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes an excellent discussion gets resurrected and it would be a shame to lock the thread or to have it locked as a preventative.
Others we may lock if the subject has no current validity. You can notify on old threads that have been bumped up, and we will lock it if needed.

in my opinion instead of spamming it's good to look back at an old thread an update it with info that you may need, as someone said 50 topics a day about most of the common stuff that has already been answered... There could be one big thread with answers to most common questions asked here, and if someone makes a thread with a question that was in that thread would get an infraction. And the thread would be updated by moderators with new questions, etc. What do you all think?

I think that having one thread on-going for the most popular questions will result in a thread pages and pages and pages long, with hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of post - no one would have the patience nor the time to go through it all! Easier for people to do a search, and if they don't find answers to their questions then to start a new thread with their own specific questions.
Each section has stickies that cover some of the most commonly asked questions, and we have an introductory sections with lots of great info for newbies: Welcome to the GSD/FAQ's for the first time owner - German Shepherd Dog Forums So between all that and the search feature, there should be a lot of info available. We will not be giving infractions for people for starting new threads on old subjects. No one should be afraid to ask questions or be penalized for doing so. They can always be directed to the stickies and or to the appropriate section.

OH, but its so much easier just to ask the question than to research and try to find what you are after. Plus, its fun when people answer your thread..lol
