OK, if I have a question? I would not have the time to read that many messages. It would so turn me off and I think people want to read direct answers to their questions. They might read something 2 pages long There is something I would like to know but there is no way my eyes could do all that reading if it was even there?...

You don't have to read the stickies if you don't want too. It's okay to ask questions directly, but stickies have very valuable information in them that the board wanted to make available to all.

As Lucia said, there is tons of valuable information in the sticky threads. I know for me, when I take the time to write out a detailed, thoughtful reply to a question, and then I do it again a month or two later, and then again, and then again, to virtually the SAME question, I start to get irritated that people can't be bothered to look around the board and read the great wealth of information that's already here, and I find myself less inclined to reply. In fact, sometimes I end up doing a search for one of my previous posts and either linking to it, or copying and pasting it to avoid re-typing a reply because I just don't have time.

If you have a question and go to the appropriate subforum, read through the sticky threads, OR at least some of the recent threads posted by other board members, and none of those threads really address your particular issue, then by all means - start a new thread. But we have literally dozens of threads on when ears are going to come up, when to spay/neuter, how to housebreak, how to teach leash walking, etc., and a lot of the time the information people are seeking is already here and a new thread is not necessary.

I see it as a courtesy issue - people are asking other people to take the time to reply to common frequently asked questions, but they don't have the courtesy to take the time to read the questions that have already been answered!

I actually like the stickies, especially those in the raw/barf section.

Not every topic on here interests me, no way would I want to read everything, but a quick scan or look at the stickies I can usually find the feedback I was looking for.

Nothing wrong stickies. Most of them are very helpful and often contain information about questions that get asked over and over.

Now, daily threads containing scattered random thoughts...
