I started a discussion with a title similar to this in the nutrition section and then noticed this area! Sorry ...
Years back, I owned an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix. He lived nearly 14 years and died because an idiot neighbor left some Anti-Freeze out he got into. I want Sheena to live a full life and die of natural causes, not from something she ate. What I am requesting/suggesting is a "Sticky" with a detailed list of things toxic to our canine friend(s), perhaps at the top of the nutrition section. Maybe divided up by what"people foods" are good for them, what they can do without and what is toxic. Including bones ... should they be raw or cooked? Which will splinter and cause injury? Which are good for them? What vitamins they regularly need? There are a lot of different choices for food kibble. All of these companies want to promote their product no matter the ingredients. It is up to us to learn the good and bad by our own knowledge. I don't have the time to sit at the local Library, reading 20 to 30 year old books that contain obsolete information. The Internet is the way of the future (as we are all learning) and, maybe even providing some good links to other sites with this information would be feasable! |

This area is for suggestions and comments about the board and not for dog related discussions.
