Hi Administrators,
I have been viewing this site for months now, and just joined and made my first post. I am not totally sure on all of the rules yet. I was wondering if I am allowed to ask about a specific breeder in my area. And if so, should it be in a private message? I have limited experience in buying a dog. My sisters and I purchased a GSD for our family on a whim three years ago. By pure luck she is an incredible and healthy dog. Her lines aren't bad, but believe me, at the time, we wouldn't have kown either way. I am now at a point in my life when I am ready to have my own dog and I know that German Shepherds are the breed for me. I have been extensively researching and have learned a lot, but I still need some guidance. I am not looking for someone to critique a breeder I am interested in, but rather I would like to know if anyone on this site has a dog from this breeder. Is there is forum where my questions would be most appropriate? Kailey |

you know i have to say it...have you considered a rescue dog? if you have some patience, there are some incredibly wonderful dogs in rescue, given up for a wide variety of reasons, not usually because there's anything wrong with the dog.
please let us know which breeder(s) you're wondering about, lots of us on the board from michigan. welcome to the board from just south of ann arbor!

Yes I have considered it actually! There were a couple dogs I've seen, but when contacting the rescues, I had a couple of negative experiences because I don't have a fenced in yard (I have a large townhouse that allows all breeds and has grassy areas in the front and back) I live across the street from a bay that has tons paths, trails and even a dog beach! I am a runner so the dog would have one, if not two runs everyday. In one case the rescue would not consider me despite that information, and in another case I was essentially hung up on before I even got a chance to explain all of that. I know that the rescues have the best intentions for the dog, and I don't blame them for being very careful, but I have had some trouble so far. Any suggestions?

Maybe move the discussion about rescues to the rescue forum.
Thank you, ADMIN Lisa
