Kudos!?

On a couple of other boards I have participated on they had a button where you could give another poster a "Kudo", "Thumbs Up" or even "Karma". The number of kudos for the particular post shows in a running tally.

People write very informative, supportive or helpful posts and it's kind of nice to be able to give a 'thank you' or internet version of a pat on the back with the click of a button.

It's a neat feature and once installed I've noticed it is quickly and consistently utilized.

I think this is a good idea I would love to give the whole kudos thing to a lot of the older posts/thread starters I see, but don't want to bump up a whole old thread just to say 'thanks for this!'

Sorry we never got back to you on this. Your suggestion was discussed among the mods/admin, and it was decided to not implement this. I know that most people are honest and genuine, but then there are some that will get into silly competitions to get their friends to give them kudos to up their profile and popularity on the board.

For example, I heard of a board where the members will sign up with a new user name to give themselves kudos, or pm other members and offer to pay them for every kudos they get!

Not the kind of silly childishness we need here. All it takes is one or two bad apples to ruin it for everyone else. So for now we will leave things as they are.

I've heard of some of those problems but never people offering to pay for kudos! Wow.....

It doesn't create too much of a problem on the other boards I've been on but I understand your concerns.
